I dream.

I dream I am on a beach, alone, serene.
I have left all my worries behind and am able to just be.

I dream I am no longer hungering for you.
For you are there, finally.

I dream you stand in front of me, your eyes taking in 
every detail of me. Your gaze caressing me lovingly.
I look at you and I know I have finally come home.

For you are the one I have been waiting for.
Unexpected, unwanted, yet there you are.

Unlikely soulmate.
You have been my friend and confidante.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Then, just one sentence and everything changed.

Suddenly I notice things about you. 
How your eyes change color.
How your full lower lip dominates your face more than 
your nose.
How easy you are to talk to.
How you care so deeply.
How sexy you are.
How lonely you are.

Just as lost as I am.
Just as misunderstood.

And I am afraid, suddenly shy.
Unable to control my feelings any longer.
There are so many things I don't know about you.
Your past, your present. Our past, our present.
All those things keep us apart.
Keep me at bay.

Will you recognize our bond? 
Will you come to understand that there can be no 
other?
For me, for you?

And so I dream.
I dream of you holding me close, loving me.
